March 27th Woodland
Trust
, Bisham
Removal of empty tree guards and rescue of trees
strangled by tree guards. These are throughout the Park
Wood area of the Woodland Trust managed Bisham Woods.
Many of the trees planted in response to hurricane
damage did not survive. The whole area now has many

empty, non-degrading plastic tree guards, which now
detract from the otherwise beauty of the woodland.
Those trees which did survive have outgrown their tree
guards, which in some cases are beginning to damage the
trees. Metal stakes were used to support the guards.
These need to be removed – if left in the ground they
could become a hazard to visitors. Park in the area around the Robin Hood pub (currently
closed) OR near to but not in the car park of the Lemon

Tree. Walk along the busy road to the path at the
entrance to Park Wood.
