15th January Ockwells Park and Thriftwood, Maidenhead
We will be coppicing some the smaller hazels in Little Thriftwood which are on the side of the woodland path nearest to the field. We will add the cut timber to the existing dead hedges created last year.

29th January Ockwells Park and Thriftwood, Maidenhead
We will be clearing bramble in the western end of Little Thriftwood just off the bluebell path. The bramble is shading out the wildflowers which hopefully will soon bloom here again.

12th February Firs Walk, Maidenhead
Firs Walk is a wooded path which runs from Castle Hill to Grenfell Park just to the west of Maidenhead town centre. Wild Maidenhead will be joining us to plant a hedge here.

26th February Ockwells Park and Thriftwood, Maidenhead
Another visit to Little Thriftwood to clear brambles and possibly do some coppicing.

We are going to coppice hazels in the Nuttery, the wood next to the orchard where we were working two weeks ago. The Nuttery hasn’t been coppiced for several years so this is the start of a project for us.

Easter Sunday 9th April Making a view at Battlemead
We will be cutting “windows” in the hedge next to the Thames that we helped to plant a few years ago. This is to give walkers along the Thames Path a view of any wildlife that comes to Battlemead. If time permits we will also give the trees that we planted to the north of East Field some TLC.

The Causeway will be open so you will be able to walk directly east from the entrance on the Lower Cookham Road to the river. We will be working here What3Words using.chief.wash.

23rd April Ockwells Park and Thriftwood, Maidenhead
On Sunday we will be removing tree guards and barbed wire at Ockwells Park and Thriftwood.

The tree guards are next to the shorter fence which encloses three oak trees, over the first bridge and to the right Here What3Words: wished.lots.vase. There are also a few scattered tree guards just north of the orchard.

7th May CANCELLED – BBOWT Woolley Firs, Littlewick Green
WMCV were due to join the Friends of Woolley Firs this Coronation weekend Sunday. However, BBOWT have decided to cancel the FoWF task. We have decided to cancel the WMCV task to rather than try and find a different task at short notice.
21st May Ockwells Park and Thriftwood, Maidenhead
Hundreds of trees have been planted in Thriftwood in the last couple of years. Now that spring has sprung it it possible to tell which of these are still alive. We will be removing the tree guards from the dead whips and weeding the live ones.

4th June POSTPONED – BBOWT Woolley Firs, Littlewick Green
This was due to be the first joint task with Friends of Woolley Firs NOT led by Martin. However as Emma will be on holiday she has postponed FoWF by a week. There is no WMCV task today but WMCVers may wish to join FoWF on June 11th.

We will be joining the Friends of Woolley Firs on their monthly work task which has been postponed by a week. This will only be a morning task so no need to bring lunch.

Woolley Firs is in Cherry Garden Lane, Littlewick Green, Maidenhead, SL6 3LJ (the turning off the A4 just before the Shire Horse pub heading west). Go in the second entrance marked “No Entry” and park outside the workshop.

18th June Battlemead
We helped to plant trees on the northern boundary of East Field at Battlmead a couple of years ago. Today we are going to weed the trees, some of which are being engulfed by nettles and cleavers.
