7th January BBOWT Woolley Firs, Littlewick Green
We will be joining the Friends of Woolley Firs on their monthly work task. We will be doing some coppicing in the wooded boundary at the far end of the estate.

We will be making a bluebell trail through Little Thrift Wood.

18th February Burnham Beeches
We will be joining the Burnham Beeches volunteers to clear and burn scrub in the dips around Juniper Cottages.

We will be tidying up the woodland, burning cut Rhododendron. Depending on works already carried out we may re-plant some displaced bluebells.

15th April Tarmans Copse, Bracknell Forest Council
Tree guard removal.

Tarmans Copse is an area of ancient woodland near Jennetts Park. We were originally going to remove tree guards at Jennets Park but this was changed on the day.

29th April Hitherhooks Copse, Bracknell Forest Council
Pond creation at Hitherhooks Copse. Hitherhooks is a small copse between Jock’s Lane and Hitherhooks Hill.

Park on Jocks Lane as any of the allocated parking off the lane is residential only.

13th May Bray Pit
We’ll be doing a variety of tasks suggested by Martin.

Drive down Monkey Island Lane, which from Maidenhead is a left turn off the A308 Windsor Road. Fork left towards the Bray Lake Watersports. The gates will be unlocked so you will be able to park at the far end of the sailing lake; alternatively there is a public car park just before the Watersports building from where you can walk to Bray Pit.

The postcode for Bray Lake Watersports is SL6 2EB, but beware of using this with a satnav as some direct you through Bray Village and this route is not accessible for cars.

27th May Shepherd Meadows, Bracknell Forest Council
Shepherd Meadows and Sandhurst Memorial Park are neighbouring sites in the south of Sandhurst on the River Blackwater. Shepherd Meadows consists of 40 hectares (100 acres) of wet meadows and woodlands that is important for its nature conservation.

We will be doing some revetment work.

There is a small car park from Marshall Way.

10th June Tarmans Copse, Bracknell Forest Council
Tarmans Copse is an area of ancient woodland at Jennett’s Park. We removed tree guards from here in April.

We will be removing the last remaining plastic tree guards which will require some removal of vegetation and some ditch line vegetation clearance – checking beforehand for any nesting birds.

We will be clearing himalayan balsam from the area around The Cut. We will be joined by members of Wild Maidenhead.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TASK STARTS AT 10.30AM. This is to allow extra time for children taking part in the Junior Parkrun, which starts at 9am, to leave Ockwells Park.

2nd September BBOWT Woolley Firs, Littlewick Green

16th September Burnham Beeches
We will be clearing excess weed from the middle and edge of the pond at Burnham Beeches. The middle of the pond is too deep for waders so we paddle out in a boat, load the weed into the boat, paddle back to the side and unload the weed.

Frog Copse is a small copse featuring mainly oak trees. We will be removing holly trees.

14th October Bisham Woods
Bisham Woods is a Woodlands Trust site, their only one in Berkshire. The Woodland Trust are going to mow the area of chalk grassland. Today will be raking off the mowings.

The site is on the left hand side of Marlow Road coming from Maidenhead. There is a layby here where you may be able to park. Map

28th October Bray Pit
Raking the meadow.

Bray Pit used to be managed by BBOWT. Although this is no longer officially the case BBOWT have still cut the meadow and we will rake off the mowings. This is to reduce the nutrients in the soil and encourage the masses of wild flowers which grow in the summer.

Bray Pit is sandwiched between Bray Sailing Lake and the M4.

25th November Bill Hill, Bracknell Forest Council
We will be clearing holly at Bill Hill, Bracknell. Bill Hill is a naturally wooded hillock that rises sharply from grassland off Downshire Way, towards the Bronze Age round barrow at its summit.

Meet at the grass area off Rectory Lane near the bus stop. Park at Rectory Close off Coningsby.
